May 30th, 2014 – Day 4
Today, we said goodbye to Iceland and hello to Scotland! Our day started bright and early, waking up at 3:30am. We made the 10 minute walk to the Reykjavik City Hostel, where the bus picked us up for the airport! Once again…we were exhausted.
Breakfast this morning was yogurt =) And it was very good!
We spent the next hour on the bus, heading to the airport. Our flight was delayed by an hour, but it was ok because it gave us a little time to grab a coffee and something to eat. Our flight to Glasgow was 2 hours and other than a few bumpy spots and a harsh landing, the flight was good. I even managed to get a tiny bit of sleep!
Once in Glasgow, we took a bus to the Queen Street bus station. We had fantastic timing and were able to get right on a train to Perth. We only waited for about 20 minutes in Perth for our next train to Pitlochry.
When we finally made it to Pitlochry, it was about 4:00pm. It was a long day of traveling and it was about to get longer! Below is the cute train station in Pitlochry. I just love it!
We got directions from a nice woman when we got off the train and headed through town and up a hill to our guest house, the Bruach Mhor. She laughed when I asked if it was within walking distance. She told us it is, but she wouldn’t do it with a suitcase! Well, we did it anyway! It was a long walk up a hill, we were exhausted but when we finally made it, it was perfect!
The view from the front was gorgeous!
And the best part of the Guest House it that you use the keys below to open doors!!
After a little nap, we got up and headed further up the hill to a cute little pub! It was called Moulin Inn and has been there since 1696! We got a great meal and a couple of beers that were brewed at their own brewery!
The beer was fantastic and just what we needed after a long day!
The food was awesome too! Best meal I have had so far! (But I know there is better to come!)
Today was a long day and was mainly a travel day, but we are happy to be in Pitlochry and ready to enjoy what this cute little town has to offer!
