From the time we are little, we are always told to Dream Big Dreams. Granted, our dreams tend to change, or evolve as we get older but sooner or later, one or two of them tend to stick. Then, there is always that Crazy Dream, the one you think about and a smile slowly sneaks out. The one that makes your heart skip a beat when you imagine it being a reality. Imagine if…
Majority of people keep their dreams hidden away and although they always “hope” or “wish” they will happen, many of them never do. So many people go through life, moving along with the twists and turns rather than twisting and turning how they want to see their life go. It is so easy to get wrapped up in routine. You have a job that you love, or like, or sometimes one that just pays the bills. You have a home to keep up, a family to take care of, and friends to keep in touch with. You do all of these things, day in and day out, and before you know it, 10 years have passed and you are no closer to those Dreams than you were before.
Dreams are meant to be realized. Having a Dream is fantastic, and you should, but it will always just be a Dream unless you actively take steps to make it a reality!
I have a couple of Dreams.
The first is simple. I Dream to travel the world. I started taking the steps to make this Dream a reality in the Spring of 2012 when I got on a plane and headed to Europe and Scotland for the first time. I continued to make this dream a reality in the Spring of 2014 when I headed back to Europe and Scotland and added Iceland into the mix. You can read about my adventures here.
In just a few short weeks, I will be heading to Italy for the first time and I could not be more excited to explore and experience new things while I am there. I will be sure to blog every day and can’t wait to share my experiences!
I have actively been taking the steps to reach my Dream of traveling the world. I live modestly and save money where I can so that I can travel. Life is short. Do what makes you happy, whatever it is. Traveling makes me happy.
I also have a Crazy Dream
My Crazy Dream is a little more involved, but not unattainable. I have a love of barns that I absolutely got from my Mom. I have a love for creating. Equally, I have a love for all things vintage. I have always been an entrepreneur at heart, starting with a fantastic Lemonade Stand with my childhood best friend and more recently with my Etsy site, and vendor shows. My Crazy Dream is a combination of all the things that I love.
I Dream of a piece of land in the country, with a perfectly imperfect farm house. I Dream of a little old pickup truck sitting out front. I Dream of a beautiful, rustic and weathered wooden barn in all of its glory. I Dream of the perfect little shop filled with an eclectic collection of vintage, recycled and hand crafted treasures. I Dream to have a family that I can share all of this with.
Recently, I took a leap in the right direction. Some might call it crazy; actually most would probably call it crazy, but just the thought of it warms my insides.
I bought a barn. Take a moment and read it again if you need to. Even I have to keep reminding myself it’s true. I bought a barn. A beautiful, weathered barn that is full of history. What makes it even more perfect? The history that it is filled with belongs to my family. Although the barn was built in the 1800s, my Great Aunt and Uncle bought the farm in the early 1960s. It served them well and housed many animals from cows to horses to chickens.
Sadly, this barn is no longer structurally stable and needs to be taken down. In the process of taking it down, I will be sure that every single piece is salvaged. I have big plans for the wood from this barn. Big plans that will lead me a little closer to my Crazy Dream. Big plans that make my heart skip that beat.
Imagine all of the Crazy, Beautiful Possibilities.
